About
I am Sam Batour, a Lebanese-born Cinematographer based in Montreal, Canada. My approach to cinematography is defined by a style that embraces dark, experimental imagery, with a particular focus on the interplay of shadows.
In my career, I have worked as a Cinematographer and in the camera department on various Lebanese and Polish music videos and films. I find pleasure in deciphering projects with challenging subject matter, bringing complex stories to the screen.
Notably, my work on the film "Hot Water" earned the First Place Award at The Unified Filmmakers Film Festival in Munich, Germany. This project has been screened internationally, gaining recognition for its visual storytelling.
Most recently, I served as the cinematographer for the feature essay "Nécrose" By François Yazbeck. A film that has been selected for premiere at the International Film Festival Rotterdam 2024 and DocPoint - The Helsinki Documentary Film Festival 2024. These selections underscore the film's narrative power and the distinct visual style.
